On Monday, January 28th the Newbery Award for 2013 was announced and the winner is...The One and Only Ivan!  This is the first time I've read a Newbery before it was a Newbery.  I read a blog post where Katherin Applegate said she almost gave up on the story of Ivan several times.  I sure am glad she didn't.
